This year’s National Public Works Week is May 15-21, 2022. There are more than 29,000 members across the U.S. and Canada and this week is used as an opportunity to recognize the hard work of our Public Works team and to educate the public on how Public Works affects everyone’s daily lives.  Often the efforts of Public Works goes unnoticed because everything is operating as expected in your life. Water is available when the tap is turned on, toilets flush, and garbage cans are returned emptied. There is often a lot of planning and obstacles the small team faces to ensure these everyday conveniences are not disrupted. The Town’s Public Works team, also referred to as the Operations Department, maintains 168 hydrants, 45km of water mains, 14 km of storm mains, 37km of sanitary sewer mains and the 468 man holes that go with it. The Operations Department have a range of backgrounds and experience with the Town ranging from 8 months to 21 years. The Town of Pincher Creek Operations Department consists of a Director (Al), Manager (Alexa), Public Works Coordinators (Jim & Phil), Asset Management Coordinator, Water Treatment Plant Operators (Allison & Darcy), Facility Maintenance (Blake), Maintenance Workers (Dane, Brad, Michael & Ashley), and an Administrative Assistant (Lindsey). Together we strive to ensure the Public Works needs of the community are addressed in an efficient manner and everyone can go about their normal lives.

Message from the Mayor

Public Works Week 2022

May 15-21, 2022

This year’s National Public Works Week theme is "Ready and Resilient", and I am pleased to be part of a team where this theme rings very true!
I would like to thank each member of our Public Works team for what you do for our community and for always being ready, when needed. You are behind the scenes making sure our drinking water is safe, that our wastewater and garbage are collected and disposed of properly and, that our facilities are maintained to a high standard so they may be enjoyed by all residents.  The winter months can often be a challenge and we are thankful that our streets are cleared of snow and maintained in a safe manner.
Many of you are on-call or work shifts because the town’s core services have to be maintained 24/7, 365 days a year. Thank you for responding to extreme snow events, water and sewer breaks, water plant issues and a myriad of other things that just don't seem to happen during normal working hours.
Council and Administration make many decisions regarding the direction of our community. Without the support of you, our Public Works team, most of these projects and programs would literally not get off the ground. You implement the decisions and do the necessary heavy lifting to get the job done.
I am especially proud that we have worked together to establish a culture of safety where everyone goes home safe at the end of the day.
On behalf of the citizens and Council for the Town of Pincher Creek, thank you Public Works for all that you do.

Mayor Don AnderbergTown of Pincher Creek
