STEP Program for Business

Alberta Labour is pleased to announce the launch of an online portal for STEP 2019 applications.
Starting January 3, 2019, you can submit and follow up on all of the necessary forms and paperwork for STEP through Labour’s new Workforce Grants Portal. Additionally, you can view the status of applications in real time.

To ensure the process is as seamless as possible, STEP encourages you to prepare for the online system by registering for a MyAlberta Digital ID for Business account now, so you are ready to apply for STEP when it becomes available. Registration is easy and it is a one-time process. To assist in this process, please refer to the attached instructions.

STEP 2019 will be open January 3 to February 8, 2019. In January, please be sure to review the Applicant Guide at alberta.ca/step before applying.

Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP) is here!

STEP grants provide eligible employers with a $7 per hour wage subsidy to hire students into summer jobs.  You can grow your business while providing a student with valuable work experience and transferable skills. 
 
You will learn about:
  • employer eligibility criteria;
  • student eligibility;
  • position requirements; and
  • application and reimbursement processes.
 
A live Question and Answer Session will follow the presentation.
 
Who should attend:
  • small businesses (1-49 employees);
  • non-profit organizations, public libraries;
  • municipalities, First Nations, Métis settlements;
  • school boards; and
  • publicly-funded post-secondary institutions.
 
When:  Plan to attend one of five webinars offered from December 18, 2018 to January 7 , 2019.

Road Closure | Beverly McLachlin Dr | May 1-2
April 25, 2024
Beverly McLachlin Drive will be closed between Frederick Street and Adelaide Street from May 1 to May 2 to allow for the installation of a utility services.

Please use extreme caution when travelling near construction workers and obey all barricades and detours.
PRESS RELEASE – STAGE 1 WATER RESTRICTION IN EFFECT
April 24, 2024
April 24, 2024 - For immediate release – On Monday, April 22, 2024, Town Council passed the amended Water Utility Bylaw. Changes to the bylaw include the trigger points for enacting water restrictions in the Town of Pincher Creek. This update was requested by the province as part of the Town of Pincher Creek’s Drought Management Plan.
 
The Town of Pincher Creek has moved from Stage 2 Water Restriction to Stage 1 Voluntary Water Conservation effective April 24, 2024 based on the Water Utility Bylaw 1631-24 revisions of April 22, 2024.
