Senior’s Financial Benefit Information Session

Event Description :
Service Canada (Federal) and Alberta Seniors (Provincial). Senior’s Financial Benefit Information Session Presenters include: Lisa Despas, Citizen Services Specialist, Service Canada Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and its benefits (Retirement, Post-Retirement, Death, Survivor and Children benefits). Old Age Security (OAS) and its benefits (Guaranteed Income Supplement, Allowance and Allowance for the Survivor). Danielle Burger, Stakeholder Engagement Advisor, Engagement and Community Initiatives, Senior Services Division, Alberta Seniors and Housing Alberta Seniors Benefit Program — provides monthly income supplement to federal income sources to eligible Alberta seniors. Special Needs Assistance — provides lump-sum payment to assist eligible seniors with the cost of appliances and specific health and personal supports. Dental and Optical Assistance Programs — basic dental coverage and optical assistance to a set amount, based on your total annual income. Seniors Property Tax Deferral Program — Allows eligible senior homeowners to defer all or part of their annual residential property taxes through a low-interest home equity loan. Seniors Home Adaptation and Repair Program — A new low interest home equity loan program to help seniors finance repairs or adaptations to their homes. Beverly McLachlin Drive will be closed between Frederick Street and Adelaide Street from May 1 to May 2 to allow for the installation of a utility services.

PRESS RELEASE – STAGE 1 WATER RESTRICTION IN EFFECT

April 24, 2024 - For immediate release – On Monday, April 22, 2024, Town Council passed the amended Water Utility Bylaw. Changes to the bylaw include the trigger points for enacting water restrictions in the Town of Pincher Creek. This update was requested by the province as part of the Town of Pincher Creek’s Drought Management Plan.
 
The Town of Pincher Creek has moved from Stage 2 Water Restriction to Stage 1 Voluntary Water Conservation effective April 24, 2024 based on the Water Utility Bylaw 1631-24 revisions of April 22, 2024.
