Forcemain break and repair complete
October 6, 2021
Late in the afternoon on Tuesday October 5th the forcemain that runs from the Town of Pincher Creek to the Town lagoons was severed.  The forcemain is the sewer pipe that moves wastewater under pressure from the Town system to the lagoons.   

At approximately 4 a.m. the break was repaired and wastewater is now flowing through the system as normal.  

No sewer effluent was deposited into the Pincher Creek.

National Truth & Reconciliation Week
September 27, 2021
Truth and Reconciliation Week is a 5-day national event that will continue the conversations from Every Child Matters. Important conversations including the truths of the Indigenous treaties, First Nation, Métis and Inuit land claims, and the residential schools system. This online event hosted by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation  will provide historical workshops, exclusive video content, and activities for students — all supported by artistic and cultural performances by First Nations, Métis, and Inuit artists.

Restrictions Exemption Program in Effect for Rec facilities
September 20, 2021
As of Monday September 20, 2021, recreation facilities owned and operated by the Town of Pincher Creek will be following the Restrictions Exemption Program for all adult programming.  This also allows for the Town’s recreational facilities to operate with no capacity restrictions and adult/senior sport, fitness and recreation opportunities to continue operations.

Recreation Energy Conservation (REC) program

As part of the MCCAC’s Recreation Energy Conservation (REC) program, the Town of Pincher Creek has completed a lighting retrofit at the Multi-Purpose Facility, updating 151 lighting fixtures in the facility to LED fixtures. The project was completed in July 2021.

Pincher Creek Ag Grounds is accessible by ticket purchase only from Aug 2 through to the end of day on Aug 8 for the Heart of the Horse event.  This includes the walking trails and dog park located within the Ag Grounds.

$3.1 million will be spent on new CT outpatient services
May 17, 2021
More than $3.1 million will be spent on new CT outpatient services, including space and a new CT scanner, at the Pincher Creek Health Centre. The computerized tomography (CT) scanner will provide predominantly elective scans for many patients in Pincher Creek and the surrounding area. Patients will be served locally, reducing travel times, wait times and improving patient outcomes. The project is expected to begin in the coming months; more detailed timelines will be shared once the work is underway.

The Pincher Creek Regional Emergency Management Organisation (REMO) has recently decided to have the Pincher Creek Emergency Services Commission provide the services of a Director of Emergency Management to that organization and in order to achieve the objectives, the organization is seeking proposals from interested parties or individual(s) to provide DEM services for 2021 and potentially beyond.  The position would be a contract position to act as the Regional DEM limited to 24 hours per week excepting during periods of activation.

Today, at the virtual Communities Bloom Conference the Town of Pincher Creek won two first place awards in the following categories; the Best Floral Display and the Urban Forestry Award.   Rhonda Oczkowski, from the Town of Pincher Creek recreation team along with the Communities in Bloom committee watched the awards together live online.   Pincher Creek competed with communities across all of Canada for this year’s awards.

Applications for the 2019 Grant Funding Program will be accepted until September 12, 2018. All applications must be completed in full and submitted on the prescribed form. Application forms are available at the Town and MD Administration offices and on their respective websites. This will be the only opportunity for 2019 Joint Council Grant Funding.

Fraudulent Phonecaller asking for donations

The Pincher Creek Emergency Services Commission contacted the Town of Pincher Creek on June 20, 2018 to warn residents that there have been reports of telephone scammers looking for donations for local fire departments in Alberta.  In some cases, the callers have been using the name of a local emergency services member to request the donation.

Pincher Creek Emergency Services Commission is not canvasing for donations via telephone. If you receive a call requesting a donation please do not provide a donation.
