HEAVY RAINFALL INCIDENT - JUNE 2010 OVERLAND FLOODING
To Town Residents and Small Business
Due to the overland flooding incident that the Town experienced in the latter part of last week, June 14-18, a request has been made to the Province for financial assistance through the Disaster Recovery Assistance Program. At this time there is absolutely no guarantee that this program will be implemented, and that there will be assistance available. This will be a Provincial Cabinet decision.
In the meantime, we need to prepare a list of residents whose homes were affected. Your first step if you received any damage due to groud water seepage or sewer back-up is to CONTACT YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY to verify if you are eligible for coverage under your homeowner's policy.
MAKE YOUR HOME LIVABLE. If you have water soaked carpeting, for instance, take it outside. Do what is necessary to make your home livable.
After contacting your insurance company, please contact the Town Office to provide some basic information, such as: name, address, phone number and nature of incident. For examlple: 2 ft. of water seepage into basement. Also, if at all possible, TAKE PICTURES, and keep track of your time and expense.
This information must be provided to the Town by Friday, June 25th. |
